The IKK Water Supply Program aimed to address water scarcity in rural areas of Indonesia, where populations lacked access to safe drinking water. The project involved the construction of 36 new water treatment plants across four islands: Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, and Flores. The program was implemented in collaboration with the Government of Indonesia, specifically the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, and the plants are now operated by local water supply companies.
Key Developments:
Water Supply
Expansion
Providing clean drinking water to 500,000 people across 36 rural locations.
Solar-Powered
Solutions
Each plant is equipped with a 20 kW nominal capacity on-grid solar system, reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
Energy-Efficient
Design
The plants are powered by a combination of solar energy and diesel generators, ensuring reliable power even in remote locations.
Capacity &
Storage
Each plant has a 500-1,000 m³/day capacity, with up to 600 m³ reservoir capacity for storing purified water.
Automation &
Monitoring
All plants are PLC SCADA controlled, enabling automated operations and remote monitoring.
Training &
Knowledge Transfer
Local staff received training to ensure the long-term sustainability of the plants.
This project provides sustainable drinking water solutions to underserved populations while promoting energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.
